ONDC Seller Registration 2026: Steps, Documents, Fees, Time
Updated: September 2026 · 8 min read
✅ Straight answer: There is no ONDC portal where a shop registers or logs in. You register with a Seller App in the ONDC Network — Kaarobari is one — and the app puts your shop on the network. On Kaarobari the signup takes about 10 minutes on a phone: mobile OTP, shop details, then KYC with PAN, Aadhaar and one bank proof. GST is not compulsory — a GST enrolment number lets you sell within your own state. No signup, listing or monthly fee; 2% only on a delivered order.
Is there an ONDC registration portal or seller login?
Quick answer: No. ONDC does not run a website where a shopkeeper registers, and there is no “ONDC seller login”. A shop registers once with a seller app and then logs in to that app’s own dashboard.
The participant registration on ondc.org is for companies that build buyer apps and seller apps. That is the route my company, Nexsol Infotech, took to join the network. A shop never needs it.
On Kaarobari you register at kaarobari.com/en/signup and log in afterwards at kaarobari.com/en/login — mobile number and password.
If someone sends you an “ONDC login link”
ONDC never messages a shop asking for money, an OTP or a “verification fee”. Neither do we. Registration happens only on the seller app’s own website, and the only OTP you ever type is the one we send to your own mobile number during signup.
Who can register: GSTIN, GST enrolment number, or neither?
Quick answer: Three doors, and all three lead into the same signup form. A GSTIN lets you sell anywhere in India; a GST enrolment number lets you sell within your own state; with neither you can still sign up and finish KYC today, and go live once one of the two is added.
📊 Which door is yours?
sell anywhere in India
GST portal, ~15 min · sell within your own state
shop stays off the live network until a GSTIN or enrolment number is added in Settings
- You have a GSTIN. Register with it. You can sell to any state.
- You do not have GST. Since 1 October 2023 a seller below the GST registration limit may sell through online platforms with a GST enrolment number from the GST portal (no charge), within their own state only. That one condition is explained in no-GST selling: the one catch; the step-by-step is in ONDC seller registration without GST.
- Neither, yet. You can still sign up and complete KYC today. Your shop is simply held off the live network until one of the two numbers is added from Settings.
Whichever door you use, you also need a Udyam registration number to submit KYC — the MSME registration, about fifteen minutes on udyamregistration.gov.in, no charge on the official portal. The number is what we check; uploading the certificate is optional.
Which documents do you need — with GST vs without?
Quick answer: PAN, Aadhaar and one bank proof for everyone; a GST certificate if you have a GSTIN, or a GST enrolment number if you do not; a Udyam number for both; an FSSAI licence only for packaged food.
| Document | With GSTIN | Without GST | Where · time · cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| PAN card — photo and number | Yes | Yes | Existing card, or instant e-PAN · ~10 min · no charge |
| Aadhaar — front and back (we keep only the last 4 digits and the image) | Yes | Yes | e-Aadhaar PDF from UIDAI · ~5 min · no charge |
| Bank proof — any ONE: cancelled cheque, passbook first page, statement first page | Yes | Yes | Your bank, or a phone photo · ~2 min · no charge |
| GST certificate | Yes | — | GST portal download · ~5 min · no charge |
| GST enrolment number | — | Yes | GST portal · ~15 min · no charge |
| Udyam registration number | Yes | Yes | udyamregistration.gov.in · ~15 min · no charge |
| FSSAI licence number | Packaged food only | Packaged food only | FoSCoS portal · 7–30 days · from about ₹100 a year |
Upload as JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 5 MB each. Phone photos work if the numbers are readable and all four corners are in the frame. The full checklist with official links is on seller documents.
One note for food sellers: FSSAI is not a KYC gate. But every packaged-food listing carries the 14-digit licence number, and buyer apps that check Legal Metrology may hide a food product without it. Apply early — it is the only document with a real waiting time.
The 7 steps, and how long each one takes
Quick answer: Four short screens make up the 10-minute signup (mobile OTP, shop details, GST status, KYC); then our review takes 1–2 business days; then store setup and products take 15–45 minutes; then buyer apps read your catalogue on their next night crawl.

1. Mobile number + OTP (2 minutes). Enter your 10-digit mobile. We send a 6-digit OTP, valid for 15 minutes. Wrong number? Edit it on the same screen.
2. Shop details (5 minutes). Your name as printed on your PAN, business name, shop name, shop PIN code (the city fills itself), what you sell, how you deliver — local within a km radius, selected PIN codes, or pan-India — and a password. Everything here can be edited later.
3. Choose your GST status (1 minute). Three buttons: I have an active GSTIN, I have an enrolment number, Not available yet. Pick the third and a yellow banner says exactly what happens: you can sign up now, and your shop stays blocked from going live until you add a number from Settings. No trick, no hidden step.
4. KYC — five short screens (under 5 minutes to fill). Business info → bank account, IFSC and account-holder name → identity (PAN number and card photo, Aadhaar front and back) → business proof (one bank proof; GST certificate only if you chose GSTIN; your Udyam and GST numbers) → review and submit. On Aadhaar we store the last four digits and the image, never the full number.
5. Our review (1–2 business days). A person on our compliance team checks every document. You get an email the moment you are approved. If something is unreadable, the page tells you which document to re-upload — you do not start over.
6. Store setup and products (15–45 minutes). Four short screens: branding, business hours, a map pin for your shop, and delivery. Then add products — one at a time from a form, or many from a spreadsheet. Each new listing is reviewed within 24 hours.
7. Activation. With KYC approved and products in, your catalogue goes out to the network. Buyer apps read seller catalogues on their own schedule — in our logs, late at night — so a shop registered in the afternoon usually appears the next morning, not the same evening.
How long does KYC take, and what blocks it?
Quick answer: Filling KYC takes under five minutes; the review takes one to two business days. A failed submit is almost always a missing document, incomplete bank details, a PAN that does not match the GSTIN, or a missing Udyam number.
When a submit fails, it is one of these, in the order our system checks them:
- A required document is missing — the screen names it.
- Bank details incomplete — account number, IFSC and the account-holder name must all be there, and the name must match the bank record.
- PAN does not match your GSTIN — characters 3 to 12 of a GSTIN are the holder’s PAN. If they disagree, one of them is a typo.
- Udyam number missing — unless you chose “Not available yet”.
- No GST identity at all — KYC can still complete; going live waits until a GSTIN or enrolment number is added.
If you are stuck on any of the five, the number at the bottom of this page reaches a person who fixes it with you on the call.
ONDC registration fees: what is ₹0 and what is 2%?
Quick answer: ONDC itself charges a shop nothing to register — you never pay ONDC directly. Each seller app sets its own fees. On Kaarobari: no signup fee, no listing fee, no monthly fee; 2% on a delivered order, plus 18% GST on that fee.
Ask the fee question of the app, not of the network. A cancelled or returned order on Kaarobari carries no fee at all.
📊 Our fee on a ₹1,000 order
No delivered order this month? ₹0.
Two other lines appear on every order, and neither is ours: the buyer app that brought the customer charges its own fee (usually around 3%, capped by the network by category) with GST on it, and two tax deductions happen at source — TCS at 0.5% and TDS at 0.1% — both of which you claim back in your returns. All of it is printed on the order screen before any money moves. Rate card: pricing. How the fee compares across seller apps: seller-app fees on the ONDC Network. When the money lands: ONDC settlement — when sellers get paid.
Do I need a paid “ONDC registration agent”?
Quick answer: No. Every document an agent charges you for costs nothing at its source — Udyam on the official portal, the GST enrolment number, the e-PAN — and signing up on Kaarobari has no fee. Our team walks you through each one on a phone call, also without charge.
Paid look-alike Udyam sites exist — avoid them; the only official portal is udyamregistration.gov.in.
The honest version of what an agent does
An agent types the same forms you can type, then sends you the numbers. The one thing you should never hand anyone is an OTP — not for GST, not for Udyam, not for your seller-app login. If a form needs an OTP, it needs you holding the phone.
After registration: what happens next?
Quick answer: Registration ends when your shop is live on the network. Orders do not start the same minute — what decides it is your delivery radius, whether each listing has its photos and mandatory declarations, and when each buyer app last read your catalogue.
The reasons are mechanical, not mysterious.
If nothing shows after two nights, work through why your ONDC listing is not showing. To see which apps buyers actually use, and what decides whether your shop appears on a given one, read the ONDC buyer apps list.
Frequently asked
“After I register, will my shop show on a specific buyer app?”
Your products go out as one catalogue that any buyer app on the network can read — you do not register separately on each app. Which app shows your shop on a given day depends on your category, your delivery radius, whether each listing is complete, and when that app last read your catalogue. Nobody can promise a specific app; anyone who does is guessing.
“Can I register without GST?”
Yes. Choose “I have an enrolment number” during signup and enter the number from the GST portal. You sell within your own state only; a GSTIN opens the rest of India. You can add a GSTIN later from Settings without registering again.
“How long does the whole registration take?”
About 10 minutes to fill (signup plus KYC), 1–2 business days for our review, up to 24 hours for each product review, then one night for buyer apps to read your catalogue. A clean submission on Monday is usually visible by the end of the week.
“Where do I log in after registering — and what if I want to stop?”
kaarobari.com/en/login, with your mobile number and password. There is no ONDC login. If you stop, nothing keeps billing you — there is no monthly fee. You can switch the shop offline from the dashboard any time, or send us one message and we close the account.
